• Ransomware groups intentionally deleting or encrypting backups
• Cloud platforms retaining deleted data for shorter periods than owners expect
• Businesses backing up files — but not email, SaaS apps, or endpoints
• Restores that take days when the business expected hours

When downtime stretches on, customers notice. Revenue suffers. Stress skyrockets.

3. How often does it run?
   Daily at minimum for business‑critical data.
4. How fast can you restore?

5. When was the last restore test?
   If the answer isn’t recent, that’s the risk.

Simple Improvements That Pay Off Fast

• Schedule quarterly restore tests (even partial ones)
• Document who can initiate a restore and how
• Keep one offline or immutable backup copy
• Align backups with your BDR (Business Disaster Recovery) priorities — not just storage capacity

Backups don’t exist to make IT feel good — they exist to get your business running again under pressure. If recovery time hasn’t been discussed at the leadership level, it’s time.
